Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Psychiatric Care Specialist to join our team at Norwalk Hospital. As a key member of our Behavioral Health unit, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to individuals with mental health conditions.

About the Role

This full-time position offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.

  • Salary:$55,000 - $65,000 per year
  • Benefits:Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Life Insurance

In this role, you will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to provide individualized care and support to patients with mental health conditions. Your responsibilities will include:

Patient Care
  1. Providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse
  2. Leading groups and activities with patients to promote socialization and skill-building
  3. Maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients
Communication and Documentation
  1. Communicating effectively with patients, visitors, and colleagues in a courteous and respectful manner
  2. Documenting patient information accurately and timely
  3. Reporting changes in patient condition or behavior to the Registered Nurse
Education and Training
  1. Identifying learning needs of patients and documenting accordingly
  2. Providing education and instruction on constructive behaviors and importance of participating in the milieu
Other Responsibilities
  1. Performing other duties as assigned by the team leader
  2. Fulfilling all compliance responsibilities related to the position

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in Psychology, Human Services, or a related field (Bachelors or Associates level)
  • One year of experience working with psychiatric populations
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to an ever-changing environment
