Job Title: Forensic Laboratory Supervisor

About the Role:

BayPLS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forensic Laboratory Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our mobile phlebotomy and forensic services team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the pre-analytical phase of the laboratory, ensuring efficient processing of specimens and maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the mobile phlebotomy and forensic services team, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, and addressing any disciplinary issues.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for specimen collection, handling, and transportation to ensure the highest level of quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other laboratory supervisors and management to develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Monitor and maintain the inventory of supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate resources are available for the mobile and forensic services team.
  • Ensure that all laboratory staff is trained and competent in the use of equipment and technology, as well as adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Implement and maintain a quality assurance program to monitor, evaluate, and improve the quality of pre-analytical services provided.
  • Communicate with clients, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to address any concerns or inquiries related to mobile and forensic services.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in phlebotomy and forensic technology and industry best practices, incorporating new developments into the laboratory's operations as appropriate.
  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment by ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Laboratory Science, or a related field.
  • Current Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role or related experience.
  • Experience with mobile phlebotomy and/or forensic services is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory regulations, guidelines, and accreditation requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in the use of laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
