The RealReal is seeking a highly skilled Fine Jewelry & Watches Specialist to join our team. As a Senior Specialist, you will play a critical role in the authentication and pricing of fine jewelry and watches. This is a production-based role that requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for luxury goods.
Key Responsibilities:- Authenticate and price fine jewelry and watches using GIA evaluation techniques and proprietary testing procedures.
- Research market demand and fair market value of branded and unbranded jewelry.
- Set list prices for fine jewelry and watches with direction and final approval from the Gemology and/or Jewelry Authentication team.
- Assist in training new Sr. Specialists and provide guidance on difficult gemstones.
- Manage the product sort on all received items and adhere to first-in, first-out methodology.
- Evaluate, authenticate, and price high-risk jewelry within the FJW room.
- Provide expertise on gem identification and answer questions for the team.
- Assist in the authentication process by locating brand identifiers and evaluating quality of materials and construction.
- GG certification from GIA preferred.
- 7+ years of fine jewelry & watch experience with some GIA classwork in lieu of GIA Certification.
- Appraisal experience preferred.
- Experience with diamonds required (selling, grading, pricing).
- Experience with colored stones required (identification, pricing).
- Ability to read and interpret documents and write routine reports.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
