Job Title: Human Resources Generalist

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for managing various HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, benefits administration, compliance, and HR policy implementation. The HR Generalist will ensure the company adheres to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, with a particular focus on California employment law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct all phases of employment, including advertising, recruiting, and interviewing, testing, placement of personnel, orientation programs, exit interviews, and unemployment compensation hearings.
  • Address and resolve employee relations issues, including conducting investigations and providing recommendations for resolution.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on performance evaluation processes, such as end-of-year evaluations and quarterly one-on-ones.
  • Coordinate all employee benefits, including medical, dental, vision, 401K, STD, LTD, FMLA, and vacation.
  • Administer time and attendance systems, ensuring accurate tracking of employee hours, overtime, and leave.
  • Collaborate with the HR Regional Manager on payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Serve as a source of contact for managers, employees, and legal counsel on all human resource-related matters.
  • Maintain and administer all HR reports and records as required by state and federal laws.
  • Maintain and update personnel files, including I-9s.
  • Compute, post, and maintain reports related to employee leave and absentees.
  • Comply with and assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of HR policies and procedures.
  • Support employee engagement programs and initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Serve as an HR contact for satellite locations, addressing HR-related queries and providing support as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably in an HR generalist role.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, payroll processing, and time & attendance systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Computer literate (proficient in MS Word, MS Excel).
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time to support satellite locations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of Safety/OSHA regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PHR certification, or similar.
  • Experience working in a multi-location environment.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements, general business periodicals, professional journals, operating and maintenance instructions, regulatory laws and manuals, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees of the company.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

Technical Skills:

  • Computer literate (MS Office including Word and Excel).
  • Proficient knowledge and application of HR laws and regulations.
  • Preferred candidates with experience with ADP.

Physical Demands:

  • Employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear, sit and stand.
  • Inside the manufacturing plant, an employee is exposed to loud noise and moving equipment.
  • Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Demonstrated confidence, including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness.
