Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Music Teacher to join our team at the School District of Lancaster. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching instrumental music, vocalizing, conducting, composing, and improvising to students. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for music education and be able to create a positive and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach instrumental music, vocalizing, conducting, composing, and improvising to students
  • Provide performing opportunities for students
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
  • Maintain good classroom organization, management, and discipline
  • Conduct an ongoing assessment of student progress to provide instruction and ensure continuous student growth
  • Provide the School District of Lancaster Music Program for each student in conjunction with the goals of the Strategic Plan
  • Demonstrate appropriate planning, the use of a variety of instructional techniques and strategies, and the incorporation of technology where possible to supplement instruction
  • Maintain student records, including all required paperwork
  • Communicate regularly with parents and be available for educational purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms
  • Pursue ongoing professional growth opportunities
  • Plan purposeful assignments for volunteers
  • Attend staff meetings, department meetings, and serve on building and District committees as required
Requirements
  • Appropriate PA teacher certification
  • BA required in an appropriate major study, master's preferred but not required
  • Ability to organize a classroom to deliver the School District of Lancaster Music program
  • Strong communication and motivational skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with, instruct, and work with students, staff, and parents
