Position Overview: The Registered Nurse in the Outpatient Specialty Clinic plays a pivotal role in delivering clinical assistance to healthcare providers, ensuring a proficient and well-prepared clinical team that enhances patient care and satisfaction. This role demands critical thinking to analyze intricate information and support patients navigating their oncology or hematology treatments and symptoms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist providers with in-office procedures and facilitate patient education, including treatment counseling and symptom management.
  • Manage and triage both urgent and non-urgent patient communications, including phone calls and electronic messages.
  • Support the clinical team in maintaining a high standard of patient care and operational efficiency.

Educational Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution or a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, with the latter required within four years of hire if applicable.

Experience Requirements:

  • Preferred: Minimum of one year in an acute care healthcare setting and one year in an ambulatory or medical office environment.

Preferred Additional Experience:

  • Specialty nursing experience in areas such as Oncology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Endoscopy, or OB GYN.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current RN licensure from the California Board of Registered Nursing and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association are mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Epic must be achieved within 90 days of employment.

  • Exceptional communication and motivational skills, particularly in conveying treatment instructions and managing patient symptoms.
  • Leadership abilities to guide and delegate tasks to team members effectively.
  • Strong sensitivity to patient needs and anxieties, fostering effective communication and support.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Diplomatic skills to manage interactions with diverse individuals in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong customer service, time management, and organizational capabilities.

Work Schedule: Full-time, 8-hour shifts from 08:00 to 17:30.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on relevant experience and licensure.

Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week.
