Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Lab Services Technician to join our R&D team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring access to clean and functioning lab space, glassware, and devices, as well as maintaining laboratory counter space cleanliness and restocking labware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for given duties and activities.
  • Collect spent and dirty labware and clean it using appropriate methods at appropriate levels of sterility.
  • Operate autoclave equipment as needed to ensure proper sterilization.
  • Restock labware in designated locations to maintain a well-organized and efficient workspace.
  • Maintain laboratory counter space cleanliness and organization.
  • Stock benchtop consumables to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Remove biohazard waste containers and dispose of them properly.
  • Take and report consumable inventory levels weekly to ensure timely replenishment.
  • Report safety incidents and concerns to management.
  • Report maintenance needs to the facilities team.
  • Perform light clerical work and office keeping tasks as required.
  • Assist with miscellaneous tasks in support of the R&D teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Self-motivated and hard-working individual with strong interpersonal skills and a positive work ethic.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to fluently read, write, and speak English.
  • Able to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous lab environment experience.
  • Associate degree in biotechnology or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory safety and hazard communication.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard.
  • Communication skills using the spoken word.
  • Ability to see and hear within normal parameters.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, lifting.
  • The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
