  • Report any accidents or injuries to the Store Manager promptly and follow established safety procedures.
  • Follow bathing and grooming procedures as outlined, ensuring the highest level of quality and cleanliness.
  • Clean ears, clip nails, and perform other necessary services to maintain the health and well-being of dogs.
  • Adhere to customer instructions for clipping patterns and styles, ensuring a personalized look for each dog.
  • Clip dog hair according to determined patterns, using electric clippers, combs, and shears.
  • Comb and shape dogs' coats to achieve a clean and polished look.
  • Talk to dogs in a calm and soothing manner to keep them relaxed during the grooming process.
  • Complete and maintain customer and company forms accurately and efficiently.
  • Properly and completely fill out required grooming forms to ensure accurate records.
  • Observe all safety rules and procedures, adhering to safety standards to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Sweep, vacuum, clean, and sanitize cages, tubs, and other areas as needed to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Assist in store operations as needed, providing support to the team and ensuring a smooth workflow.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 1-year experience grooming or styling pets, with a strong understanding of canine characteristics and grooming styles and techniques.
  • Must be comfortable working with dogs and cats, and able to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all pets.
  • Must provide own tools (clippers, blades, shears) or be willing to purchase required tools.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with successful completion of Paragon Level 1 & 2 training provided by Petsense.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation and communicate effectively with customers.
  • Ability to operate and use all grooming tools and equipment, including bathing tubs, brushes, steel combs, barber shears, scissors, clippers, driers, and bathing products.
  • Ability to work varied hours, days, nights, and weekends as business needs dictate, and to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to safely work around pets and pets' waste, and to lift and carry pets generally weighing 0-50 pounds.
Working Conditions

The working environment is favorable, generally working inside with moderate noise. Exposure to wet conditions, particularly when bathing dogs, and exposure to cats and dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments.

Exposure to sharp grooming instruments, perfumed shampoos and soaps, pets, and pet waste. Work shifts vary from one store to another, but generally are no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours.

Promote a safe and productive work environment for Team Members and customers, and adhere to Company safety training and guidelines.

Indoor floors and outdoor lots generally are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.) lighting and temperature are adequate.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move and transfer live animals, equipment, and merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and maintain a stationary position for up to 8 hours while grooming animals.
  • Ability to frequently move for 4-8 hours per day around the salon to groom animals, clean, and maintain the salon.
  • Ability to utilize grooming instruments including shears and dryers.
  • Ability to frequently lift or reach merchandise overhead.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and squat frequently to position oneself to groom animals, clean shelves, and stock merchandise and equipment.
  • Ability to constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other store equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation.
  • Ability to utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required training.
