Key Responsibilities- Maintenance and Repair: Identify, diagnose, and repair building utility systems, including electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
- Technical Expertise: Work from building blueprints to determine location and layout of circuits, ducts, and piping, and perform on-site repairs or replacements.
- Equipment Operation: Use hand tools and power equipment, such as drill presses, saws, threaders, and grinding wheels, to perform maintenance and repair tasks.
- Supply Management: Requisition materials and supplies as needed to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Work Environment: Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to departmental policies and procedures.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and other hospital employees, providing excellent customer service.
- Documentation: Complete required departmental paperwork in a timely and legible fashion.
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience: Successful completion of a recognized apprentice program as a Building Engineer or equivalent progressive experience in building repair and maintenance.
- Skills: Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, communicate effectively with others, and possess knowledge of safety rules, practices, and equipment.
- Physical Demands: Must be physically capable of performing the work expected in an efficient manner, including working from ladders and scaffolds.
