Job Title: Building Engineer, Nights

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Building Engineer to work on our night shift. As a Building Engineer, Nights, you will be responsible for identifying, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining building utility systems related to low voltage electric wiring controls for heating and ventilating systems, pneumatic temperature controls, pumps, air filters, and central refrigeration units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and diagnose issues with building utility systems
  • Repair and maintain building utility systems
  • Work from building blueprints to determine location and layout of circuits, ducts, and piping
  • Perform on-the-scene repairs or replace components
  • Use hand tools and power equipment such as drill press, saw, threader, and grinding wheels
  • Requisition materials and supplies as needed
  • Keep work area neat, clean, and safe
  • Complete required departmental paperwork in a timely and legible fashion
  • Communicate with patients, visitors, and other Hospital employees with tact and courtesy
  • Follow through on all assigned duties until completion
  • Maintain personal appearance in accordance with departmental policy on dress and uniform
Requirements
  • High School Graduate
  • Successful completion of recognized apprentice program as Building Engineer or equivalent progressive experience in building repair and maintenance
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate with others by writing
  • Knowledge of use and maintenance of power and hand equipment used on the job
  • Must be able to work from ladders and scaffolds
  • Must be physically capable of performing the work expected in an efficient manner
  • Must have knowledge of safety rules, practices, and equipment
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and work with other people
  • Must be capable of strenuous physical activity
