Staff Nurse

NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse - Behavioral Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health Unit, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients with complex mental health needs.
Responsibilities:- Provide individualized nursing care to patients with behavioral health needs, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans that address the physical and emotional needs of patients.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered, and monitor patient responses to ensure safe and effective care.
- Participate in code blue and other medical emergencies, and provide emergency care as needed.
- Document patient care and progress in the electronic medical record, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Conduct medication education groups, health education groups, and community meetings to promote patient engagement and empowerment.
- Assist with discharge planning and coordination, ensuring a smooth transition of care for patients.
- Valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
