Job Title: Logistics Manager

The Logistics Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our transportation services. This position requires a strong leader who can provide guidance and support to employees, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide project support and communication planning as needed.
  • Offer transportation guidance to Logistics Supervisors and Managers, ensuring the integration of all functions and managing workflow/task execution.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with Logistics Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), ensuring all training and adherence to these policies.
  • Manage all documentation and reports, ensuring timely processing for reporting or billing.
  • Ensure dedicated carrier selection for optimal efficiency, proper carrier communication, and timely communication to customers.
  • Act as the point of contact for Carriers, proactively building relationships and following up regularly.
  • Regularly review and meet with the accounting department to discuss cost reporting concerns.
  • Monitor incoming emails from customers, ensuring timely responses from local teams.
  • Document comments, communication, and follow-up via email and telephone to ensure carrier performance meets customer expectations.
  • Monitor and record carrier performance and failures, working closely with operations managers and General Managers to continually improve processes, carrier selection, and services.
  • Negotiate terms and rates for shippers and carriers in the absence of carrier contracts or systems.
  • Exercise discretion and good judgment, understanding the effect of decisions on the company.
  • Evaluate and measure employee performance, helping develop their skills to meet expectations.
  • Troubleshoot issues that may arise during shipment.
  • Provide optimum customer service and lead by example in all aspects of job responsibilities.
  • Create a positive environment for employees and co-workers, helping maintain morale.
  • Step in when necessary in the absence of key individuals in the department to keep operations running.
  • Be on call 24/7 for emergencies, staffing concerns, etc.
  • Travel may be up to 50%.
Requirements:
  • Degree in a related field or 5+ years of equivalent experience in transportation or logistics, including customer processing, route delivery procedures, and basic security and operational procedures.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manager/supervisor or lead position in Traffic or a related field.
  • Understanding of DOT rules and regulations, vehicle weight capacity, and load specs, etc.
  • Ability to work graveyard hours, weekends, holidays, and OT, with flexibility of schedule.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience in coaching, counseling, and conflict resolution.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage stress in self and others within a fast-paced environment, adapting readily to change.
