Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant I, Certified to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a Medical Assistant I, Certified, you will provide routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other healthcare team members in an outpatient clinic setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform rooming and/or intake process, collecting and documenting patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, and medical history.
  • Collect patient and family data, including medical and social history.
  • Review patient's current medication list, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
  • Assist providers with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
  • Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy.
  • Administer medications under the direction of a provider.
  • Perform tests, such as EKG and eye exams, under the direction of a provider.
  • Review patient records to determine routine health screenings.
  • Ensure exam and treatment rooms are prepared and stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Provide patient education and instructions as directed.
  • Assist with patient registration, check-in/check-out, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
  • Answer clinic telephone and assist with in-basket tasks.
  • Assist in emergency situations as directed by a provider or nurse.
Requirements
  • Medical Assistant certification by a recognized organization, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
  • Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member with staff and providers.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with a standard schedule of 40 hours per week. The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care.
