About the Role

As a Directional Drill Operator/Locator at MasTec Communications Group, you will play a critical role in the installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable. This position requires a strong understanding of directional drilling techniques and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support directional drilling operations for the installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable
  • Locate for Horizontal Directional Driller to ensure accurate placement of underground infrastructure
  • Operate a horizontal directional bore in collaboration with the Drill Locator to successfully install coax and fiber systems
  • Ensure the safety of the public and other underground utility facilities
  • Read utility locates and coordinates day lighting of these facilities
  • Transport heavy equipment to and from the job site each day
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of utility directional drilling experience in an urban environment
  • Experience with different size Vermeer or Ditchwitch drills
  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for project build process
  • Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record
  • Strong safety record and commitment to a safe working environment
