Job Summary

United Cerebral Palsy of South Carolina is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach their goals and live a Life Without Limits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage residents in activities of choice, reinforcing ISP goals.
  • Provide transportation and supervision as dictated by individual program.
  • Record daily activities, problems, and needs of residents in the daily log.
  • Ensure personal hygiene and grooming needs are met.
  • Use appropriate body mechanics to lift, move, and position residents, providing prescribed exercises and physical care.
  • Inspect the home at the beginning of the shift to ensure safety requirements are met, checking for clutter and dangerous objects.
  • Conduct evacuation drills as directed by the supervisor.
  • Follow program plans for meeting emergencies and disasters.
  • Clean and sanitize appliances, utensils, and work surfaces according to Personal Care Home Rules and Regulations.
  • Cook and prepare meals.
  • Report any equipment problems to the supervisor.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, kitchen, and telephones daily.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Uphold confidentiality requirements and support the fundamental human, civil, constitutional, and statutory rights of clients and families.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50lb with or without reasonable accommodations.
