Biology Laboratory Instructional Specialist

Position Overview:

This role involves the coordination of biology-focused laboratory activities while ensuring adherence to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate collaboration between faculty and students within a scientific laboratory setting.

• Deliver both individual and group training on laboratory-related programs.

• Manage inventory and prepare materials and equipment for biology, anatomy, physiology, and microbiology laboratories.

• Oversee and maintain laboratory computer systems.

• Suggest purchases for laboratory equipment as necessary.

• Operate, clean, and calibrate laboratory instruments as required.

• Ensure proper storage, labeling, and disposal of hazardous materials generated on campus.

• Order and manage all laboratory supplies and reagents, maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all laboratory chemicals in compliance with state and federal regulations.

• Act as a lab instructor, supervising student activities and providing feedback to faculty regarding student progress.

• Serve as a point of contact for adjunct faculty regarding laboratory experiments; upload lab schedules and other necessary documentation to the learning management system as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in a Biology-related field, along with two years of relevant laboratory experience, or equivalent.

Preferred Experience:

• Four years of relevant laboratory experience, or equivalent.

Additional Skills:

• Strong organizational and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
