Medical Assistant

As a Medical Assistant at Northwell Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting the clinical team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to the success of our healthcare organization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring cleanliness and availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and perform measurement and screening procedures.
• Prepare patients for examination and treatment, ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Obtain patient vital statistics, such as height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
• Record findings in patient medical records and inform clinicians of any important information.
• Assist clinicians during examinations, procedures, and treatments, as required.
• Collect and process laboratory specimens, including blood, tissue, and other samples.
• Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) as required and assist with other diagnostic tests.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Participate in patient registration, scheduling, and confirmation processes.
• Provide excellent customer service, responding to patient inquiries and resolving any issues promptly.
Requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of a six (6) month to one (1) year course in Medical Assisting at an accredited school or 1-3 years of medical assistant experience required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information with discretion.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
