We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Educational Support Specialist to join our team at Hamilton County Department of Education. As an Educational Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic success of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Assist teachers in classroom settings, overseeing and monitoring students during temporary teacher absences, and setting up and conducting various class activities and projects.
- Provide one-on-one tutoring and academic support to students in basic educational skills, including word study, spelling, sentence writing, reading, math, science, and physical education.
- Monitor student behavior and activities in common areas, such as cafeterias, auditoriums, and hallways, and initiate disciplinary action as needed.
- Perform clerical tasks in support of teaching activities, office operations, and other school functions.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders to coordinate work activities and exchange information.
- Attend staff meetings, parent meetings, and other meetings as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; basic technology skills and general office/clerical experience preferred.
- Must possess one of the following: semester hours or 72 quarter hours, an Associate's degree or higher, or a passing score on the PRAXIS for Parapro Exam.
- One year of experience working with children preferred.
- Fluency in Spanish required for Educational Support Specialists in ESOL programs.
