Pharmacy Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at MedStar Health. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare medications for dispensing, including selecting, labeling, and packaging.
- Enter medication orders into the computer system, evaluating patient data, checking for drug allergies and duplications, and calculating dosage conversions.
- Pick up medication orders from the patient care area at scheduled times and deliver filled orders to assigned nursing units and departments.
- Assist in checking or investigating missing dose requests and prepare parenteral admixture solutions.
- Monitor stock inventory levels, expiration dates, and replenish supplies of all stock drugs, communicating status/availability of drugs.
- Process drug charges/credits and perform quality improvement activities such as code carts, Pyxis, and checking outdated medications.
- Respond to phone calls regarding medication orders and exemplify Guest and Staff Relations standards in all activities.
- High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
- 3-4 years of hospital pharmacy experience (with IV admixture) preferred.
- LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech Registry with the D.C. Board of Pharmacy required.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, ability to utilize computer equipment, prepackaging machines, needles/syringes, and medication carts.
- Basic mathematical skills and a working knowledge of the metric system.
This position has a hiring range of $31.36.
