Pancreatic Islet Cell Transplant Nurse Specialist

About the Role:
The Pancreatic Islet Cell Transplant Nurse Coordinator plays a vital role in the multidisciplinary team responsible for improving the lives of patients suffering from pancreatitis.
This position coordinates solid organ transplantation of all pediatric and adult organ recipients, providing follow-up and care across the continuum from pre-transplant, during transplant, and post-transplant.
The successful candidate will collaborate with members of the healthcare team to enhance patient care by developing, supporting, and educating nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the transplant program administrator in short, intermediate, and long-range planning for the transplant program.
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement efforts to maximize patient and graft survival outcomes.
- Develop and implement educational programs for patients, staff, and the community.
- Coordinate patient care, including pre-operative tests, consults, and post-transplant follow-up.
- Ensure regulatory compliance by maintaining accurate patient transplant information in the electronic medical record.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from a state-accredited school of professional nursing.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
- Three years of professional nursing experience, including two years in transplant, critical care, or disease-specific areas.
