Summary

The primary objective of this role is to address community requests for assistance, maintain a visible police presence to foster a sense of security among residents, execute law enforcement duties, and investigate criminal activities. This is achieved through the use of communication tools, protective gear, tactical maneuvers, security operations, and traffic management. Responsibilities also include documentation, navigation, conducting investigations, and utilizing law enforcement equipment and weaponry. Additional tasks involve supporting the annual budget, aiding in special event organization, maintaining equipment, and responding to animal control inquiries.

Compensation and Benefits

>3 but < 6 years: $82,680.00 / $86,819.20
>6 but < 10 years: $86,819.20 / $91,208.00
>10 years: $91,208.00 / $95,742.40

Additional Compensation:
Education Pay: $600-$1200 annually
Certification Pay: $600-$1800 annually
Police Expert Pay: $1800 annually
Shift Differential: $300- $600 annually depending on shift

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce all municipal ordinances, state, and federal laws.
  • Patrol assigned areas and respond to community concerns regarding potential criminal activity.
  • Enforce parking regulations.
  • Issue warnings and citations for violations of city and state laws.
  • Apprehend offenders and transport them to designated facilities.
  • Investigate suspicious activities and criminal incidents.
  • Respond to emergency situations, traffic collisions, and general assistance requests.
  • Conduct thorough crime scene investigations.
  • Collect fingerprints, take photographs, interview suspects, and gather statements.
  • Prepare detailed reports on offenses, incidents, arrests, and impoundments.
  • Educate the community on crime prevention and public safety initiatives.
  • Appear in court and provide testimony as required.
  • Perform special assignments as needed, including investigative duties, park patrol, and crime prevention efforts.
  • Work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications
  • Preferred minimum of 45 college credit hours.
  • Basic certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Five years of experience in law enforcement preferred.

Working Conditions

Employees may encounter potentially dangerous situations regularly. The role requires working in extreme weather conditions and may involve exposure to hazardous materials and diseases. Physical capabilities to bend, run, lift, and maneuver in confined spaces are essential. Officers must be able to restrain suspects and may patrol via vehicle, bicycle, or on foot.
