Job Summary:

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases and conditions. Under the supervision of a physician, you will perform a range of diagnostic imaging procedures, including in vivo and in vitro therapeutic procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate patient exams and studies by retrieving and processing patient requisitions, reviewing requests for pertinent information, and obtaining patient history.
  • Perform clinical imaging procedures and examinations using scanners and scintillation cameras, following guidelines and protocols.
  • Measure radioactivity using Geiger counters, Well counters, and scintillation detectors, adhering to radiation safety techniques.
  • Perform in vitro laboratory tests using various equipment and instruments.
  • Conduct quality assurance and control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Obtain and format accurate images and worksheet presentations, archiving and logging studies for future reference.
  • Receive, survey, wipe, and monitor shipments of radiopharmaceuticals, and prepare stock solutions and doses under the direction of a physician.
  • Perform radionuclide therapy procedures, adhering to department protocols and physician instructions.
Requirements:
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certificate from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of nuclear medicine imaging principles, theories, practices, and techniques.
  • Ability to scan independently, using initiative and judgment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of clinical experience as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
