Surgical Technologist I

Job Summary:
UNC Medical Center is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist I to join our team. As a Surgical Technologist I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms. Your attention to detail, strong communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment will make you an invaluable asset to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Prepare and maintain operating rooms, including setting up and sterilizing equipment, and ensuring that all necessary supplies are stocked.
  • Monitor and maintain aseptic technique, identifying and reporting any contamination or breaks in technique.
  • Participate in surgical counts and follow policies and procedures for incorrect counts, reporting discrepancies.
  • Assist in the proper identification, preparation, handling, and labeling of surgical specimens.
  • Operate complex equipment and other resources in the operating room, troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program, or a Graduate of a Military Training Program in Surgical Technology.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and priority-setting skills.
