About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist I to join our team at UNC Medical Center. As a Surgical Technologist I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and registered nurses in the operating room, maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures.
  • Participate in the planning and setup of instruments, supplies, and surgical drapes.
  • Assist in the proper identification, preparation, handling, and labeling of surgical specimens.
  • Monitor and maintain aseptic technique, identifying and reporting any contamination or breaks in technique.
  • Participate in the UNC Health Surgical Technologist competencies and maintain a high level of knowledge and skill in surgical technology.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program, or equivalent experience.
  • 0-3 years of experience as a surgical technologist.
