Job Summary

The New York Power Authority is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to provide technical support to our generating plant and transmission substations throughout the State of New York.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide lead engineer function in support of electrical equipment design modification projects, equipment applications, and failure research.
  • Perform inspections and evaluations of existing electrical equipment and systems for proper installation, problem identification, and troubleshooting.
  • Direct and review electrical design and drafting personnel in the development of project drawings.
  • Provide office and field engineering support and oversight during construction or outage activities.
  • Ensure deadlines are met as assigned by supervisors.
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines and departments for successful project development and execution.
  • Perform inspections and evaluations on vendor products to ensure engineering requirements and Authority needs are satisfied.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of five years of related work experience.
  • New York State Engineer in Training certification or active pursuit of certification.
  • Experience with NYPA policies and business practices preferred.
