Job Summary

Fair Share Housing Development, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our property management team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with LIHTC and HOME rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and process applicant and resident information, including tax returns, pay statements, and benefit letters.
  • Ensure proper calculation of income, assets, and rent levels.
  • Determine eligibility for initial and continued program compliance.
  • Prepare and review resident/applicant files and income certifications.
  • Conduct on-site interviews during lease-up phase of new developments.
  • Maintain database information required for compliance and management purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with all LIHTC & HOME rules and regulations.
Requirements
  • Minimum of an associate degree with three or more years of experience in LIHTC compliance.
  • Deep understanding of personal tax returns, including 1040's and schedules, W2's, 1099's, federal and state benefit programs.
  • Proficient understanding of basic math concepts, including the ability to calculate gross annual income based on various types of employment payment documents.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and follow-up on necessary tasks.
  • Effective communication skills, both in writing and verbally.
  • Professionalism in all aspects of the workplace.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Pass a pre-employment background screening.
