**Responsibilities:**

  • Provide direct patient care, including administering medications and providing first aid as needed.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and communicate effectively with security and treatment staff.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Promote continued competence through education and certification, focusing on correctional nursing best practices.

**Requirements:**

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Valid unrestricted Virginia Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) license or multi-state compact license.
  • Working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of practical or general nursing care.
  • Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers.

**Work Environment:**

This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

**Compensation and Benefits:**

The estimated salary for this position is $34.00 per hour, reflecting the compensation offered by the State of Virginia for this role. Note that this wage position offers no state benefits.
