Position: Civil Rights Associate Managing Attorney

Role Summary: The Civil Rights Associate Managing Attorney position is dedicated to addressing the legal civil rights concerns of the American Muslim community. This role offers a significant opportunity to lead efforts in tackling civil rights issues affecting American Muslims within a community-focused framework. Responsibilities include overseeing and enhancing civil rights legal services, managing a dedicated team, and advocating for justice and civil rights in the Muslim community.

Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Managing Attorney and supervises the Civil Rights Attorney, Civil Rights Coordinator, and Law Clerks.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time role that may require occasional evening and weekend commitments.

Location: The position is based in the Santa Clara office with a hybrid work arrangement, incorporating both in-person and remote work. Travel within the Bay Area is necessary, requiring a vehicle, insurance, and a valid driver's license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and oversight to the Civil Rights legal team.
  • Manage casework and volunteer activities.
  • Conduct client intake, draft legal documents, and represent clients in legal matters.
  • Engage in community outreach and educational initiatives.
  • Research legal resources, prepare necessary documentation, and evaluate client needs.
  • Collaborate with team members on marketing and reporting tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to civil rights and the mission of the organization.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited institution and membership in the California bar.
  • Proven experience in civil rights law and managing legal personnel.
  • Exceptional leadership, time management, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and a high degree of self-motivation.
  • Proficient computer skills and the ability to navigate the Bay Area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the American Muslim community or in non-profit sectors.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based applications and proficiency in languages such as Arabic, Farsi, or Urdu.

Compensation Package:

  • Salary commensurate with experience.
  • Includes health insurance, retirement contributions, and paid holidays.
