Position: Civil Rights Associate Managing Attorney

Role Summary: The Civil Rights Associate Managing Attorney plays a pivotal role in addressing the legal civil rights needs of the American Muslim community. This position offers a significant opportunity to lead efforts in tackling civil rights issues that affect American Muslims, all within a community-focused framework. Responsibilities include overseeing and enhancing civil rights legal services, guiding a dedicated team, and advocating for justice and civil rights within the Muslim community.

Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Managing Attorney and supervises the Civil Rights Attorney, Civil Rights Coordinator, and Law Clerks.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time role that may require occasional evening and weekend commitments.

Location: The position is based in the Santa Clara office with a hybrid work model, incorporating both in-person and remote work. Travel throughout the Bay Area is necessary, requiring a vehicle, insurance, and a valid driver's license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Civil Rights legal team.
  • Oversee case management and volunteer activities.
  • Conduct client intake, draft legal documents, and represent clients in legal matters.
  • Engage in community outreach and educational initiatives.
  • Research legal precedents, prepare documentation, and evaluate client needs.
  • Collaborate with team members on marketing strategies and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to civil rights and the mission of the organization.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited institution and membership in the California bar.
  • Proven experience in civil rights law and managing legal personnel.
  • Exceptional leadership, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and a high degree of self-motivation.
  • Proficient computer skills and the ability to navigate the Bay Area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the American Muslim community or within non-profit organizations.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based applications and proficiency in languages such as Arabic, Farsi, or Urdu.

Compensation Package:

  • Salary commensurate with experience.
