Join Our Team as a Human Rights Advocate

At CAIR San Francisco Bay Area, we are committed to empowering young Americans with the skills they need to make a difference. As a Human Rights Advocate, you will work with our team to develop professional skills, gain insight into the impact of public service, and work with different departments to holistically understand the daily operations of a non-profit civil rights organization.

Responsibilities
  • Develop professional skills through hands-on experience in one of our departments: Civic Engagement, Communications, Event Planning/Outreach, Operations, or Youth Development.
  • Gain insight into the impact of public service and develop a deeper understanding of the daily operations of a non-profit civil rights organization.
  • Work with our team to develop and implement strategies to attract individuals to become involved with CAIR.

As a Human Rights Advocate, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, including organizing events, proposing and creating new material to promote CAIR, and preparing exhibits. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills in marketing, public relations, and graphic design.

Qualifications
  • Candidates must be college students pursuing a bachelor's degree or an advanced degree, or recent graduates (17 and older).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Passion and familiarity with the work that CAIR does.

Internships typically last from 10-12 weeks, depending on the student's academic calendar. Hours for an academic term clerkship are 15 hours per week for a Fall or Spring clerkship and 20 hours for a Summer clerkship. CAIR San Francisco Bay Area currently operates a hybrid schedule and requires interns to work in-office a minimum of two days per week.
