Clinical Nutrition Specialist

Job Summary:
The Registered Clinical Dietitian will work in collaboration with the inpatient healthcare team to provide patient-centered nutrition care based on evidence-based best practice guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify patients at risk of malnutrition and obtain accurate and timely nutritional history from patients and/or family members.
- Perform age-specific nutrition assessments and provide individualized nutrition care plans utilizing the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Nutrition Care Process.
- Provide ongoing monitoring and evaluation of patients' needs to ensure nutritional goals are met.
- Recommend enteral and parenteral nutrition support as needed and manage enteral nutrition support.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and provide education on therapeutic diets to patients and/or caregivers.
- Document assessments, reassessments, and care plans in the EMR using the standardized Nutrition Care Process.
- Participate in performance improvement activities and provide nutrition care to outpatients in areas such as diabetes and oncology clinics.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in nutrition and dietetics or related field and completion of a dietetic internship.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) status and/or successful completion of the national registration examination (RD) within 120 days of hire.
- Ability to use the hospital computer system to input and retrieve data and communicate effectively with compassion and empathy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One to three years of experience in an acute care setting, preferably in an academic hospital.
- Registered dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Working Conditions:
Employee will be expected to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by the hospital and be able to stand, move, or walk for long lengths of time.
