About the Role

We are seeking highly motivated and talented interns to join our Engagement Optimization Group at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on challenging technical national security problems and contribute to the development and assessment of Missile Defense systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct modeling, simulation, and analysis to identify defensive systems gaps and develop groundbreaking system concepts to improve United States integrated air and missile defensive capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain high fidelity software models of current and future combat system baselines.
  • Work with a team to model, analyze, and perform assessments of fielded systems and find opportunities for improvement.
  • Propose and develop innovative concepts/algorithms to improve capabilities.
  • Conduct analysis to assess potential future systems performance.
Qualifications
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or graduate degree in Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics or a similar major with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience programming in MATLAB, Python, C++, or another high level language.
  • Ability to obtain Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain Secret level clearance.
