Job Description:

Contributes to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Facilitates adaptive responses of patients and families to achieve optimal patient care, enhance safety, and maximize satisfaction. Demonstrates compassionate care during interactions with patients. Coordinates patient care and staff interactions. Meets the qualifications necessary to provide care for patients in the designated unit.
  • Contributes data to assessments as defined by scope of practice and unit standards.
  • Addresses the physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout the care continuum.
  • Reinforces patient and family education, addressing family needs and discharge planning throughout hospitalization.
  • Delivers direct patient care including treatments, medications, and diagnostic procedures in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions and care plans based on patient responses to interventions.
  • Initiates collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members, taking proactive measures to address and facilitate patient needs.
  • Engages in unit-based decision-making regarding the application of evidence-based practices.
  • Provides input to management for performance evaluations of care delivery team members.
  • Mentors and precepts new staff and students in a professional and positive manner as assigned.
