Job Summary

The OrthoLoneStar PLLC is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our team in providing exceptional patient care in the field of Orthopedics. As a key member of our medical staff, you will be responsible for supporting the doctors' work and actively facilitating patients' recovery. Your primary responsibilities will include performing physical exams, analyzing diagnostic tests, educating patients about treatment options, and assisting in surgeries. You will also be responsible for monitoring patients' progress, keeping records of treatments, and preparing patients for examinations. Additionally, you will cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for the patients, comply with medical care regulations and safety standards, and maintain constructive working relationships with staff, physicians, patients, and other contacts.

Responsibilities

Some of the specific responsibilities of the Nurse Practitioner include:
  • Assess patients' health and their demands and aim to fulfill them as well as possible
  • Post-op - Writes orders in the recovery room, talks with family, visits patients, performs post-op procedures and more
  • Issue appropriate prescriptions and administer medicine
  • Inform physicians about any problems or discrepancies that might arise
  • Acquire and review patient histories identifying abnormal conditions
  • Monitor patients' progress and keep records of treatments, surgeries or other medical events
  • Prepare patients for examinations and conduct routine procedures (measure blood pressure and temperature, administer injections etc.)
  • Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for the patients
  • Comply strictly with medical care regulations and safety standards
  • Monitors and guides activities of practice staff to ensure smooth patient flow
  • Also monitors and adjusts workflows to ensure timely collection of revenues for in-office treatment and procedures
  • Discharge planning - Dictates discharge summaries, writes prescriptions, explains discharge instructions, confirms follow-up appointments and more.
  • Maintains constructive working relationships with staff, physicians, patients, and other contacts that are encountered in the course of practicing medicine or conducting business
  • Assist with all clinic functions including but limited to answering phones, scheduling appointments, and entering charges.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Master of Science in Nursing degree from an approved nurse practitioner program, current approval by the joint Board of Medical Examiners and Board of Nursing to perform medical acts, and must be currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Texas. Previous experience in a medical practice with emphasis in Orthopedics is highly desired. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, flexible, organized, and function well under pressure. Additionally, the candidate must have detailed knowledge of HIPAA rules and requirements.
