Medical Assistant

As a Medical Assistant at OrthoConnecticut, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our team of orthopedic specialists. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting physicians with medical procedures, handling patient telephone calls, and managing patient charts. You will also be responsible for stocking exam rooms, ordering medical supplies, and maintaining inventory storage. Additionally, you will act as a liaison between patients and physicians, communicating messages and screening telephone calls for referral to physicians. Responsibilities:
Assist physicians with all medical procedures, including clinical assistance and patient flow management
Handle patient telephone calls to completion, providing courteous and knowledgeable medical decision making
Manage patient charts, including receiving and organizing charts, following through on incomplete paperwork, and reviewing charts daily for next day's appointments
Prepare exam rooms between patients, including preparing injections and stocking supplies
Call in prescriptions to pharmacies and review charts prior to patient appointments to ensure all paperwork is complete and attached
Order medical supplies and manage inventory storage, establishing and updating inventory of medical supplies as needed
Act as a liaison between patients and physicians, communicating messages and screening telephone calls for referral to physicians
Maintain and dispose of biohazard materials, adhering to OSHA regulations and guidelines
Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program (RMA or CMA)
High school graduate or GED
At least one year of work experience in a medical office setting
Knowledge of medical office procedures and insurance verification
Ability to demonstrate a mature, dependable, and responsible approach when interacting with patients, physicians, co-workers, and additional outside sources
Proactive self-starter with excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
