Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant II to join our team at Bayhealth. As a Medical Assistant II, you will play a vital role in the examination and treatment of patients, working under the direction of a physician or APC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain patient history and vital signs, including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and record information as appropriate in Epic.
  • Assist the physician/APC with simple patient procedures and act as a chaperone for all female patients as needed.
  • Maintain patient records, treating them as legal documents requiring proper documentation and strict confidentiality.
  • Manage and maintain Joint Commission and CLIA requirements for in-office logs.
  • Greet patients and families upon arrival, initiate proper forms for the medical and financial record, and obtain the patient and/or responsible party's signature as necessary.
  • Perform patient registration, obtain insurance authorizations, and follow current insurance authorization procedures.
  • Schedule new and follow-up patient appointments and referrals to other providers as needed.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support
  • Eighteen (18) months of experience as a Medical Assistant, CNA, or Patient Care Tech in a clinical setting, or completion of an accredited medical assistant program, certified nursing assistant program, or Bayhealth's Internship MA Training Program.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Two (2) years' experience in a clinical setting, including obtaining patient history, vital signs, and simple office flow.
