POSITION: Court Reporter
DEPARTMENT: Superior Court 3
WORK SCHEDULE: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday
SALARY: $1,988.77 Biweekly
The incumbent acts as the Court Reporter for Superior Court 3, tasked with the crucial responsibility of documenting court proceedings and managing related court documents.
Key Responsibilities:- Attend court sessions to create audio recordings and shorthand notes, ensuring accurate documentation of proceedings.
- Operate recording equipment, take detailed notes, and label recorded materials for future reference.
- Prepare and organize exhibits for storage, including inventory management and proper documentation.
- Type transcripts from audio recordings as required.
- Perform clerical tasks, including drafting documents such as orders and correspondence, maintaining case summaries, and data entry.
- Manage court and Judge's calendars, including scheduling hearings and notifying relevant parties.
- Maintain communication with various stakeholders, including attorneys and agencies, to facilitate court operations.
- Assist with front office duties, including answering phones and greeting visitors.
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or GED and have a solid understanding of office and court procedures, as well as legal terminology.
Essential skills include:
- Proficiency in shorthand and typing with accuracy and speed.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including recording devices and computers.
- Strong command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Capability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to follow instructions and collaborate effectively in a team setting.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
The role is performed in a standard office and courtroom setting, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods and engage in various physical activities such as bending and lifting light objects.
Regular extended hours may be required, along with occasional weekend or evening work.
