Job Description

As a key member of the Ernest Maier Block team, the Shop Production Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our fabrication facility. This includes reviewing shop drawings for accuracy and content, assigning duties to team members, and ensuring that all work is completed on time and to specification.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Shop Drawing Review and Layout: Conduct thorough reviews of shop drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Work Assignment and Oversight: Assign tasks to team members, monitor progress, and ensure that all work is completed on time and to specification.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory levels, verify that assigned work has adequate materials, and coordinate with the Yard Manager to ensure stocked materials are available.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Work with the Project Management team and Estimating department to schedule commercial work, coordinate completion dates, and ensure material requirements are met.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Foster open communication with team members, the Project Management team, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow and productivity.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate with the Yard Manager to maintain equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure timely reporting and repairs.
  • Safety and Compliance: Prioritize safety, lead tool talks, and ensure that team members are using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices.
  • Reporting and Feedback: Provide regular reports on production and shop needs to the management team.
Accountabilities:
  • Timely and Efficient Production: Ensure timely and efficient production of commercial fabrication while maintaining volume and accuracy of residential fabrication.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain stocked, pre-cut, and rebar inventory to ensure availability for sale and fabrication requirements.
