Job Title: Centralized Oncology Triage Nurse

Cancer Specialists of North Florida is seeking an experienced Centralized Oncology Triage Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care through telephone triage, working closely with physicians and advanced care practitioners to assess patient needs and develop appropriate interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert telephone triage services, assessing patient needs and developing plans for intervention with direction from physicians and advanced care practitioners.
  • Follow established policies and procedures to carry out medical orders and ensure patient safety.
  • Assess patient learning needs, physical and mental abilities, and readiness to learn, providing teaching and instructional materials as needed.
  • Monitor and analyze laboratory data, imaging, and other test results to determine changes in patient status, communicating relevant information to physicians and advanced care practitioners.
  • Communicate imaging, lab, and other results to patients as directed by physicians.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments of patients in areas of biophysical needs, psychosocial needs, performance status score, self-care needs, educational, spiritual, and emotional needs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Canopy web portal and OncoEMR systems.
  • Document nursing assessments, patient teaching, plan of care, orders, medication refills, and other relevant information in Canopy and/or OncoEMR.
  • Act as a resource person to medical assistants and other staff as needed, providing guidance and support via telephone or email.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to safety and quality control measures.
  • Mentor and serve as a preceptor for less experienced staff as needed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience, including at least one (1) year oncology nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • RN Florida state license.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certificate.
  • OCN certification preferred.
  • ONS (or equivalent) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy course or ONS Radiation certification required within 6 months of hire.
