Job Overview:
The Emergency Services Program within the Waldron College of Health and Human Services is seeking qualified candidates for a non-tenure track Teaching and Research Faculty position. This role is integral to our commitment to providing a comprehensive educational experience in the health sciences field.

Responsibilities:
  • Teaching: Engage in educational activities aligned with your expertise in classroom, laboratory, and field settings. Participate in the development and assessment of curriculum to meet professional standards. Deliver instruction in accordance with the latest National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards.
  • Advising: Act as an academic advisor for students in the program, maintaining accurate advising records and directing students to necessary resources.
  • Professional Development: Maintain and enhance professional skills through ongoing education and participation in relevant training programs.
  • Collaboration: Contribute to committees and community service initiatives as required by the university and program administration.

Schedule: This is a full-time, nine-month appointment with a flexible class schedule designed to accommodate the needs of students and the program.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: A Baccalaureate degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience: A minimum of three years of experience as a field paramedic or registered nurse in a high-volume environment.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Nationally Registered Paramedic certification and/or Registered Nurse certification required. Nursing candidates must obtain Paramedic certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Preference will be given to candidates with an earned Doctorate.
  • Experience: Experience teaching at the college level in both traditional and online formats is preferred. Familiarity with CAAHEP accreditation is highly desirable.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Preferred qualifications include AHA and NAEMT instructor certifications, FP-C or CCP-C certification, and Virginia EMS Education Coordinator status (must be obtained upon hire).

Schedule: This position is a full-time, nine-month non-tenure track appointment with flexible scheduling options to support student needs.
