Job Overview:
The Emergency Services Program within the Waldron College of Health and Human Services is seeking applications for a non-tenure track faculty position focused on teaching and research. This role is designed to enhance the educational experience of students pursuing degrees in health sciences.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Instruction: Engage in educational activities aligned with classroom, laboratory, and field expertise. Participate in the development, assessment, and refinement of curriculum to meet professional and accreditation standards. Must be proficient in teaching all courses related to the latest National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards.
  2. Student Advising: Act as an academic advisor for students in the program, maintaining accurate advising records and directing students to appropriate resources.
  3. Professional Development: Uphold professional competence through ongoing education and practice. Participate in training as required by the institution.
  4. Collaboration: Engage in committee work, community service, and instructional updates as needed by the institution.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time, nine-month non-tenure track appointment with flexible class schedules to accommodate student needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  2. Experience: A minimum of three years of experience as a field paramedic or registered nurse in a high-volume system.
  3. Licenses and Certifications: Nationally Registered Paramedic certification and/or Registered Nurse licensure. Nursing candidates must obtain Paramedic certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Education: Preference will be given to candidates with an earned Doctorate.
  2. Experience: Teaching experience in college-level courses in both traditional and online formats is preferred. Familiarity with CAAHEP accreditation is highly desirable.
  3. Licenses and Certifications: Preferred qualifications include AHA and NAEMT instructor certifications, FP-C or CCP-C certification, and Virginia EMS Education Coordinator certification (must be obtained upon hire).

Schedule: This is a full-time, nine-month non-tenure track appointment with flexible class schedules to meet the needs of students and the program.
