Key Responsibilities

The Imaging Technologist plays a vital role in producing diagnostic images of the human body using advanced imaging technology as directed by Radiologists, adhering to established protocols and procedures. This includes utilizing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and potentially other modalities such as Computed Tomography (CT) and/or Fluoroscopy.

  • Prepare and assess patients prior to imaging procedures, ensuring thorough screening of all individuals before entering the MR magnet room.
  • Collect patient information, including questionnaires and medical history, to identify any contraindications for imaging examinations.
  • Confirm and validate patient safety screening forms, including allergy checks, and perform imaging procedures according to established protocols, including daily quality assurance and calibration.
  • Conduct venipunctures, collect specimens, and maintain necessary competencies.
  • Provide education to patients regarding imaging procedures, equipment, and examinations.
  • Prepare and administer appropriate contrast media for imaging exams.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process.
  • Assist with patient scheduling as required.
  • Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images using PACS, including after-hours image transmission and necessary documentation.
  • Maintain equipment functionality and apply knowledge of radiation safety regulations to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and the public.
  • May rotate through various imaging modalities and locations as needed.

Qualifications

Education: Associate Degree or College Diploma required, with completion of a Radiologic Technology program accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Experience: Proficiency in both MRI and CT imaging modalities is essential.

Licenses/Certifications: Must possess American Registry of Radiology Technologists ARMRIT certification, Imaging Registered Rad Tech (ARRT) certification, California Certificate in MRI, Imaging CA Radiologic Tech (ARRT) CT certification, Fluoroscopy License, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
