Senior Director of Operations and Strategy

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Dell Medical School is seeking a Senior Director of Operations and Strategy to serve as the senior administrative partner to the Chair and other members of the Department's senior leadership teams across the mission pillars.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the development and implementation of the physician recruitment strategy and faculty appointment processes for tenure-track, part-time and volunteer faculty.
- Oversee faculty and staff compensation and all financial functions including FTE cost allocations, contracting, invoicing, purchasing and financial reporting.
- Develop and manage policies and strategies needed to implement the Department vision for clinical, educational and research program development.
- Support the design of programs and associated funding proposals.
- Oversee the administration of department education programs, strategic planning and education infrastructure.
- Provide administrative leadership and work in partnership with UT Austin and Dell Med Research for all extramural research processes, including clinical trials, grant submissions and pre/post award activities.
- Oversee daily operations and manage the department's administrative teams.
- Define and track departmental strategy and initiatives in the context of the overall medical school strategy, business plans, and partnership models, supporting and coordinating with medical school leadership.
- Engage within Dell Medical School to build upon and improve existing core functions, including finance, human resources, faculty affairs, contracting with clinical partners.
- Master's degree and a minimum of five years' research and clinical administration experience in an academic medical center.
- Expert knowledge of financial statements, budgeting, business processes, and research and clinical financial administration.
- Ability to effectively present information to senior management, committees, and external stakeholders.
- Seven years of research and clinical administration leadership.
- Experience working in Behavioral Health.
- Experience working within an academic health system.
- Experience with Athena.
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
May work around standard office conditions.
Occasional weekend, overtime and evening work to meet deadlines.
