Job Summary

Panelmatic is seeking an accountable Project Engineer - Electrical Systems Specialist to be responsible for all engineering and technical disciplines related to projects. The successful candidate will schedule, plan, forecast, resource, and manage all technical activities to ensure project accuracy and quality from conception to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Designing Electrical/Control Systems: Create detailed electrical schematics, diagrams, and layouts for power distribution, control systems, and equipment. Designs include electrical control circuits, bus bar systems, and other electrical components.
  2. Component Selection: Select components as required and generate project Bill of Materials (BOM).
  3. Prototyping and Testing: Build and test prototypes of electrical systems and engineered products to validate design concepts and performance. Conduct thorough testing, analysis, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve any issues or inefficiencies.
  4. Project Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with project management and product teams to determine electrical requirements and specifications. Coordinate with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure the integration of electrical systems with overall project design.
  5. Compliance and Standards: Ensure that designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations. Stay updated on the latest engineering practices, technologies, and safety guidelines.
  6. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, reports, and manuals. Maintain accurate records of design changes, test results, and project progress.
  7. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve problems that arise during the manufacturing process or after completion.
  8. Safety: Implement safety measures to protect workers and the public from hazards.
  9. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems. Communicate effectively with team members and clients to gather requirements, address concerns, and provide progress updates.
  10. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and performance enhancement. Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in the field of electrical engineering.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (ABET) or a minimum of 10 years' proven experience in the electrical engineering field.
  • Three plus years' experience in electrical equipment manufacturing.
  • Three plus years' experience in electrical engineering principles, circuits, and systems.
  • Three plus years' experience in industry standards and regulations, including NEC, UL, IEC, and IEEE.
  • Three plus years' experience with AutoCAD, EPLAN, and electrical design tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Adherence to our core values.
  • Ability to pass physical, drug, driving, and background checks.
  • Ability to physically push, pull, and lift 50lbs or more.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for four-plus hours at a time.
  • Ability to stoop and bend for four-plus hours.
Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Three years' experience in design or similar engineering role.
  • Experience with simulation and analysis software such as SKM or ETAP for electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of sustainable and energy-efficient design practices.
  • Familiarity with specific industry applications for energy fields, food processing, mining, power plant-substation, data mining, etc.
