Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Nurse Specialist to join our team at the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network. The successful candidate will possess a Master's Degree in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing and have a strong clinical background in behavioral healthcare or mental health settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing direct patient care duties, including psychiatric evaluations, re-evaluations, dispositions, coordination of medical services, medication orders, monitoring patients, and more.
  • Assessing and treating medical problems, providing direct patient care to a specified patient population, and developing patient care charts.
  • Notifying attending physicians on call, house physicians on call, or supervising physicians regarding any unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation.
  • Practicing safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods, supervising and/or coordinating the activities of patient care and support staff within the clinic.
  • Writing progress notes on patients' charts indicating patient status and treatment procedures, providing health education to patients, families, and community health practitioners and groups.
  • Training and supervising clinical staff engaged in specific clinical activities, performing clinical research related to specific operations, examining patients, diagnosing illnesses, and providing treatment.
  • Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests, gathering health histories, performing physical examinations, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans, documenting all patient interactions, notifying managing physicians about unusual or unexpected events or problems.
  • Ordering, performing, and interpreting routine laboratory tests, consulting with patients in clinic settings and/or referring patients to department physicians, other specialists, and medical and community resources as necessary.
  • Prescribing medications based on patient's medical diagnosis and needs, providing education and instruction on patient's condition(s) as required, directing other medical personnel in the execution of patient care.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree (MSN) in Psychiatric-Mental Health (PMH) Nursing or other MSN with additional coursework for eligibility for PMH Board Certification.
  • Two years of professional clinical experience in a behavioral healthcare or mental health setting.
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse and certified from MI State Board of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner and ANA/ANCC Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • A valid State of Michigan Driver's License with a safe and acceptable driving record.
  • Required DEA License and BLS certification.
