Description: The Manufacturing Operations Leader will proficiently oversee and guide all facets of the production activities within our organization, driving continuous enhancements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.

This individual must embody a mindset focused on continuous improvement and act as a proponent of LEAD initiatives throughout the facility.



Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Employ data-driven methodologies to attain key performance objectives that align with or surpass manufacturing standards and customer expectations. Establish world-class operational benchmarks for assessing and communicating visual metrics related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Inventory, etc.
  • Exhibit effective decision-making capabilities concerning resource utilization, recruitment/training, and endorsing capital investments to fulfill business plans and forecasts.
  • Assume ownership and responsibility for enhancing safety across the operation, supporting the organization's overarching HSSE mission of Goal Zero.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams and subcontractors to ensure that plant equipment and facilities are secure and functioning optimally.
  • Engage with union leadership and members to manage daily operations while consistently applying practices and enforcing policies. Understand and implement the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging World Class/Lean Manufacturing techniques to boost output and reduce costs in manufacturing and assembly sectors.
  • Work alongside Staff Management and Lean Coordinators to formulate and execute a Lean strategy/plan, identifying business needs concerning Lean processes. Utilize 5S, TPM, and SMED tools to foster process discipline and accountability.
  • Implement Standard Work across all manufacturing processes, developing documentation through employee involvement at all levels. Enhance manufacturing processes for improved efficiencies through work instructions, process flow, visual management, scrap reduction, waste elimination, material usage, material handling and flow, and cross-training.
  • Support and ensure that ISO 9000 processes and procedures are established and executed, coordinating preventative measures to enhance system capabilities. Provide leadership for problem resolution and employ formalized root-cause analysis methods (5-Why, 4-Block, 8D, etc.) to effectively identify issues and drive solutions.
  • Maintain and cultivate effective working relationships and communication with key support functions, including Engineering, Quality, Finance, Sales, and Supply Chain, to enhance operations and ensure effective support of manufacturing processes to achieve business objectives.
  • Participate in the development of staff roles and succession planning, identifying high-potential team members.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of demonstrated success in managing plant operations within a world-class manufacturing environment. Must have effectively led and managed through teamwork facilitation within the directed functions.
  • Proven skills in building processes and teams.
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, both oral and written, evidenced by the ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from production employees, groups of managers, peers, and occasionally customers.
  • Extensive experience with lean manufacturing methodologies and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Demonstrated skills in utilizing visual management to oversee daily operations.
  • Strong passion for root cause analysis and systematic problem-solving.
  • Solid experience in a manufacturing setting that includes CNC machining, welding, painting, and low to medium volume assembly.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.

Tools/Technology:
Proficient in utilizing business systems to access information and use Microsoft Office Software.
