Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales Specialist to join our team at Michael Janzen Agency, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for marketing, prospecting, and selling American Family Insurance products in a specialized product line. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market, prospect, and sell American Family Insurance products in a specialized product line
  • Maintain effective customer relationships and understand customer needs
  • Match customers with appropriate product and service offerings
  • Develop knowledge of the local insurance industry and market dynamics for business development opportunities
  • Help the Agency grow by using consultative selling techniques to sell insurance products to new customers
  • Proactively cross-sell and coordinate with agency team members to provide additional coverage to existing customers
  • Prospect for new business through leads, telephone calls, networking events, trade shows, and personal contacts
  • Secure new business through individual effort and established lead methods
  • Prepare quotations and applications and deliver effective presentations to close sales
  • Comply with underwriting guidelines and contact appropriate division for underwriting guidance when needed
  • Conduct sales and review appointments with prospective and current customers
  • Meet and exceed sales goals
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to work independently to plan, set priorities, and organize work
  • Active involvement in the local community
  • Demonstrated sales and customer service experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Experience with PC software applications (Microsoft Office Suites, Internet Explorer, etc.)
  • Experience using a wide range of digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptop computers
  • Experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, Google+, LinkedIn, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance concepts and principles
  • Demonstrated effective agricultural insurance industry prospecting and sales experience
Working Conditions

This position is an Agency Team Member working for the Agency Owner and is not an employee of American Family Insurance. Non-typical schedules (evenings or weekends) may be necessary on occasion. General office setting.
