Materials Scientist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Materials Engineer to join our Advanced Technologies team at Ultramet. The successful candidate will collaborate with our team to develop innovative material solutions and improve existing ones for various industry and government customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and development activities to create new material solutions or enhance existing ones.
- Perform material testing and analysis to assess progress towards research, development, and/or production milestones.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
- Prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations both internally and externally.
- Stay current with advancements in materials science and engineering, proposing innovative solutions.
- Travel with the team to technical conferences and tradeshows at least twice a year.
Requirements:
- Master's degree, with 4 years of industry experience, in Materials Science and Engineering or a related field, with experience in ceramics and metals being a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and report on research experiments.
- Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
- Excellent organization and time-management skills for handling multiple priorities.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
Additional Requirements:
- Industry experience in materials manufacturing, particularly materials for extreme environments (propulsion, nuclear power, etc.).
- Familiarity with chemical vapor deposition processes.
- Familiarity with refractory ceramic, metal, and composite manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience with materials characterization techniques such as microscopy, spectroscopy, and mechanical testing.
- Experience in computer software and tools commonly used in materials engineering, such as COMSOL, ANSYS, MATLAB, Python, and SolidWorks.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Ultramet offers an attractive benefits program, including medical and dental coverage, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, a competitive salary structure, and a generous vacation and holiday program.
Pay Range: $76,000-$130,000 - Compensation is based on a variety of factors, including candidates' knowledge, skills, experience, qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
