About the JobWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist Instructor to join our team. As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist Instructor, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and conducting training on the principles of medical laboratory science, demonstrating the performance of standardized laboratory tests, and coordinating the provision of practical laboratory training for students enrolled in a school of medical laboratory science or a related program.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, develop, and conduct training on the principles of medical laboratory science, demonstrating the performance of standardized laboratory tests.
- Coordinate the scheduling and provision of practical bench training of licensed trainees with supervisory laboratory scientists.
- Identify and analyze on an ongoing basis, the training needs and problems usually with reference to a specialized area of training.
- Plan, develop, and implement, with supervisory approval, the use of evaluative tools to measure the effectiveness of the training.
- Assist supervising clinical laboratory scientists in the development of test items to evaluate trainee achievement.
- Participate in defining educational goals, objectives, and standards for student programs, in-service education, and ongoing education.
- Maintain a library of audio-visual aids and other training materials for reference by supervising clinical laboratory scientists and others engaged in the training process.
- Participate in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of new students for a school of medical laboratory science.
- Two (2) years of experience at the level of Clinical Laboratory Scientist II or higher in an approved laboratory.
- A Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist) license issued by the State of California Department of Public Health.
- Additional years of experience at the level of Clinical Laboratory Scientist II or higher in an approved laboratory.
- Experience planning and instructing the clinical laboratory practice of an assigned group of CLS students or licensed trainees in a laboratory or academic setting.
- One or more of the following specialist certifications issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP): Blood bank, Chemistry, Cytology, Cytometry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Molecular Biology.
