Key Responsibilities

The Laboratory Support Technician operates under the general oversight of senior technical and clinical staff. Duties may encompass the reception, processing, and distribution of laboratory specimens or blood from voluntary donors, as well as conveying information regarding tests and their outcomes. All responsibilities are carried out with a focus on the developmental needs of the patient populations served.

Qualifications

Educational Background:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Phlebotomy Certification compliant with California state laws and regulations.

Experience:

  • Preferred: One year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with familiarity in laboratory information systems.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with peers, patients, physicians, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficient in English communication.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent sitting and standing; occasional walking and bending; ability to lift materials up to 25 pounds over distances of up to 10 feet.
  • Ability to respond to auditory alarms and communication devices.
  • Visual acuity sufficient for performing job duties.
  • Mobility to access equipment, patients, and other stakeholders.

Working Environment

This position is classified as non-exempt and involves night shifts with an 8-hour duration.
